Tom is an Analytics Engineer who really enjoys working with data and turning it into something useful. He likes taking complex information and making it easier to understand, especially through dashboards and visualisations mainly in Power BI. It’s great being able to help people actually see what’s going on and use data to make better decisions.

He knows “data” doesn’t always sound like the most exciting topic, but enjoys showing that it definitely isn’t boring — especially when you can bring it to life with the right visuals and tell a story with it.

Tom has commercial analytics experience from working at an insurance comparison website, as well as retail experience from a large online bathroom retailer. He has worked with Bupa, analysing customer behaviour through their app and worked closely with developers to make recommendations based on user activity. It was a great opportunity to see how data can directly influence product improvements and customer experience.

Outside of work…

Outside of work, Tom likes keeping active. He is a member of a gym and aims to get to classes early before the kids are up. He is a big football fan; he has a season ticket and plays in the week. He also plays tennis or any racquet sports for that matter. He lives with his wife Chery, and their two kids, Poppy and Rosie. They love to walk in the park with their dog Noodle.

His favourite food has to be Indian; there are plenty of good restaurants that he’s sampled in the town where he lives!
